After several years as a Police Officer, Ken Hellendall began working in the law enforcement sales industry in 1979. He initially worked for distributors and called on Public Safety agencies throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In 1990, Ken became a manufacturer’s representative working as a sub-representative covering a territory from Northern Virginia through New Jersey. In October of 1992, he left that firm and started Keystone Associates Unlimited, which later became Keystone Mid-Atlantic, Inc. Keystone initially, handled only two manufacturers: Intoximeters, Inc. and Code 3, Inc.
Since 1992, Keystone had simple goals and objectives and we have continued to follow these guidelines. A good manufacturer’s representative should be able to focus on a few lines and remain well versed in the products we represent.
Our outside sales staff includes five full time representatives and an inside office staff who assist our outside representatives. The inside staff ensures that customers can reach a “real person” rather than an answering machine. Each representative is required to maintain a demonstration vehicle to include sample products. This approach allows the end users to get hands on the products they intend to purchase.
